8th INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CONFERENCE ON LOCAL SAFETY AND SECURITY

Ljubljana, Slovenia & Podgorica, Montenegro, 17 April 2025, 09.00-15.00 (MS Teams, online)

Nowadays, security is becoming paramount. Local safety and security could be defined as a state where the residents of local communities are protected from danger or loss. To discover and understand the processes, researchers of the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor, have been researching Safety and Security in Local Communities for a decade since 2015. Students, as future criminal justice and security professionals, are actively included and participating in these studies. In 2025, the 8th International Student Conference is entitled Safety in Security in Local Communities – Security Challenges and Provision of Security. Masters’ students of the Faculty of Law, the University of Montenegro, and Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, the University of Maribor, under the supervision of professors Velimir Rakočević, Gorazd Meško, and Katja Eman, have studied local safety and security topics in Montenegro and Slovenia. In addition, the Erasmus+ students studying at the University of Maribor’s Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security in the academic year 2024/25 are also presenting their papers. The results of their research will be presented and discussed at this year’s, the eighth in a row, conference. In addition to both universities, the Erasmus+ program and the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency support this year’s conference. Participants of the conference beyond Montenegro and Slovenia, Erasmus+ students studying at the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security in Spring 2025, come from the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Portugal, and Slovakia.
